Wow!  What an excellent adventure we all had Sept 6th at the 4th annual Hatchery Outdoor Adventure.  Our mission was to move at least 500 kids from their couches to our Dry Run Creek so they realize the treasure and beauty the outdoors offers.  And boy did they show up! 

540 kids with parents came and enjoyed fishing the creek and the raceways with experienced fishermen, they learned about our waterways, painted fish pictures, heard about bats and insects, practiced BB gun and archery and cooled off in the fire department water spray just to name a few activities. They also had great food and treats to indulge in. 

This all happened due to an amazing team of 70 volunteers, the generous and dedicated vendors, the remarkable hatchery staff, passionate board members and the outstanding local community.  We also must thank all the banks, chamber of commerce, real estate agencies, radio stations and other media sources who spread the word.  All of these partnerships are what make our community so special.  

A great big thanks to the Norfork volunteer fire department for the food and drinks and Salesville fire department for the water spray this year.  At the end of the day, the only sad faces were the kids having to leave such a fun place.    We look forward to returning next year with additional vendors only to influence more outdoor fun for our youth so please….spread the word.
